Jeff Bagby
Jeff Bagby, who has contributed greatly to this hobby and community, had a kidney transplant earlier this week. He had been on peritoneal dialysis for years, had done well, but it was beginning to go downhill. Jeff did well in surgery, but when he was extubated his airway collapsed, he had a respir...

Re: 7 way system ???
A crossover filter for that would be a nightmare, a 3 way is bad enough! My guess is that whatever filter he had messes up the sound more than helps it.

Where are you located? If you come to one of the meets, and there is one in Ft. Wayne In. soon, you could hear many systems for yourself.

Re: Upcoming Excelsior Passive Four Way in 2016
Adam may have had trouble with the epoxy in his wood/aluminum laminated baffle, but he must have worked it out. That speaker was drop-dead gorgeous! I'd hate to do the crossover for your 4 way, what do you have in mind for that? It might be easiest to use an electronic crossover, but I don't know if...

Re: ZX Spectrum Build
An easy way to check if one of your woofers has the wrong polarity: place the speakers facing each other a few inches apart, and see what the bass does. If it reinforces and gets louder they are in phase, if it disappears, the they are out of phase and therefore one of them has the wrong polarity.

Re: Offical Thread - Loudspeaker Design Seminar in Kokomo
Jeff Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated what you did this weekend. It was a great experience for me, and it was really good to get to listen to the results with you. I would be proud if I could make a speaker sound as good as that one did at the end! Also, just the effort you must ha...

What trouble did you have soldering the multistrand wire? It may be that you weren't getting all of it hot enough.

Jeff
I was on call Dec. 14 but have managed to clear it, so I am free to attend. I don't know yet if I will come in the night before and need a hotel room or can drive it in the morning. Do you know the start time? I don't recall if that was on the itinerary.

Re: Trying this out...
Wolf--
What you are doing is crazy cool, but wouldn't it be easier to buy commercial coils and unwind them to your custom value? Are you planning to custom make resistors and caps too? Why not go for broke and try a Frankenstein monster?
By the way, how's your little one doing?

Jeff--I just now found this listing and would like to come. I cannot tell if I am on call that weekend, I cannot find the schedule this evening, so make me tentative if there is room.
