Invictus for HT?
Anyone run the Invictus design for home-theatre use? I have some restive (narrow but tall) tower design constraints for my space and have been searching for a good design to meet my needs. Invictus has some nice looking drivers and well respected designer, but design writeup essentially says it's no...

Sweet! They came out great. The contrast with the black does look nice.

Re: Swopes MTM
Are those stands made completely from hardwood? What made you paint them instead of show the grain? I see Formby's in one of your pics. I think that is one of the products that's a "tung oil finish"... including other stuff in addition to the Tung Oil. I've used something similar from Minw...

Re: Swopes MTM
Wow! Is that solid oak? Most experts' posts I've read advise against hardwood for fear of wood movement compromising the enclosure, but it sure makes for a great looking set of speakers! I like the stands too - i built a pair somewhat similar myself. How long did the finishing process take you? I tr...

Overnight Sensations Kit
Hey all... I see the OS MT kit here at Meniscus uses a different tweeter than the Parts express kit. It's a few bucks more at Meniscus and doesn't come with the enclosure. I don't need the enclosure and the price difference isn't much, but I'm curious about some opinions on which sounds better. It w...

Re: Finalists Build
Thanks Jeff :) I bought enough veneer to try to cover a center channel if i ever get ambitious enough to try to build one. Haven't had time/money/drive for that yet. Imaging was fantastic when i first set up these speakers in my livingroom so i wasn't planning on building a center at all. However, t...

Re: Finalists Build
Thanks Matt. Statements were my first choice for this build but my livingroom setup will not allow for pulling the cabinets out far enough from the wall :( The Finalists have the sealed-mid-chamber option, which i have to use. I still kind of want to build the Statements at some point, just to hear ...

Re: Finalists Build
You have a small drill with a plunge attachment to it. What attachment is that? I really need to pick one of those up. In the vids when you cut your woofer holes it looks like you re-plug the cutout then go over it again with the router. Were you cutting the countersinks then? Your pic of the built...

Re: Finalists Build
Appologies for more or less a direct cut-and-paste of my post from another forum, but it sums up my experiences pretty well and anyone browsing the Meniscus kits may only check this forum as a reference. I wired them up in my home theater setup, running off my Denon 3312. I had my Zaph 5.3 L/C/Rs pr...

Re: Finalists Build
Finally done... not much time for listening impression yet except to discover some depth that i haven't heard with my other speaker setups. More comments to come as i do some critical listening :) IMG_2291_small.jpg IMG_2295_small.jpg Some measurements with mid tunnel open and closed and resistor sw...

Re: Statements, finally finished!!!
Those are beauties!
Statements were my dream build but they just don't work well in my space so i'm building the Finalists instead.

Re: Finalists Build
Hey David. The dark colored veneer on most of the cabinet is Bubinga. I believe this selection is actually referred to as "Waterfall Bubinga". I saw a few builds using this species and just had to have it. Beautiful stuff. My selection was somewhat difficult to work with because it was a b...
