Any chance for a "Mini Statement II"?

I am moving to a new house that will have a dedicated audio room (no HT), but the space is smaller than where I am currently listening.

My large planar speakers just won't work in the new location.

A speaker the size of the Mini Statements would be about right for the room, but I want the better midranges used in the Statement IIs.

I believe I remember reading that the Statement II will be the last incarnation designed for he Statement line, but I was hoping for a change of plans.

The Statements line of speakers is sealed. You might look at the Anthology's or the new Bordeaux design will be available within the next couple months on Curt's website. Send Curt an email for more info.

I'm currently on vacation and won't be returning until mid October.

Thank you for the response!

It will be a couple of months before I am able to do anything, so I will be keeping an eye out for the Bordeaux.

Quick question from a newbie regarding Jim Holtz' Bordeaux speaker: is it possible to reconfigure the "bass box" for the Bordeaux to be a taller version with the same footprint as the top cabinet (without the rear screen implemented)? I'm very intrigued by the design but am faced with some placement issues that make it difficult to accommodate a 22" deep speaker. If this is feasible, would it also be possible to invert the midrange and tweeter on the top box in order to keep the tweeter at an appropriate height? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Sorry, I haven't replied.

The bottom bass cabinet is reasonably flexible in size as long as you end up with a net of 75-80 liters volume. However, the top cabinet needs to maintain the same width and depth within +/- 10% of the original design to sound as designed. Reversing the tweeter and mid is a Curt question and you would need to email him for his input. My 1st thought is no, due to the greatly increased mid/woofer spacing but Curt would be the final answer.

Just a thought, a 14"w x 30"H x 17"D cabinet would provide a similar volume and eliminate the drastic changes to the critical top cabinet.

One other thought, placement needs to be around 18" from the rear of the cabinet to the wall behind with a similar distance from sidwalls for the open back on the mid and tweeter to blend properly with the reflected back wave. Also, no large furniture or TV's etc sitting between the top cabinets on the speakers. TV's should be wall mounted to eliminate blocking the reflected sound waves. Nooks and recesses just do not work with open back speakers.
